Short answers to common questions. Each one links to the rule it comes from.

How does the draft work?

Each league drafts live in the draft room, in a snake order: the order is drawn at random two hours before, and every other round runs in reverse. Before your turn, you can queue the films you want.

Which films can I draft?

Films of the season that haven’t opened by draft day, by the league’s release setting: in a league that counts the US release, not opened in the US (a film already out abroad still counts, unless it has no US date); in one that counts the first release anywhere, not opened anywhere. A festival screening doesn’t count as opening. A film with no release date yet can be drafted too, by hand or from your queue, but if it slips out of the season it scores nothing, and autopick never takes one. Canceled films, and films already dated after the season, aren’t in the pool.

How does the pick clock work?

The commissioner sets it, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes a pick, or no clock at all. When time runs out, the draft either waits for that player or autopicks from their queue, then the best dated film left (never one with no release date). The commissioner can pause the draft, and an autopick draft pauses itself when nobody is in the room.

#Scoring and standings

When does a film count as released?

Each league’s commissioner picks: the first release anywhere, or the US release, which counts a film from its first US opening, limited or wide, or its US streaming date. Festival screenings don’t count. Only released films score.

How is a category scored?

The players with something in a category are ranked. First place is worth one point less than the number of players, and each place below one point less. A zero earns nothing, so an awards category scores no one until its nominations are out.

When do standings update?

Once a day, after the daily score refresh. Box office is read just before it, so each day’s standings use that day’s figures. Last updated Oct 15, 7:17 AM ET.

How does head to head work?

The season has six two-month periods. Each period you face one opponent: the films each of you released in those months are compared across ten columns, and whoever wins more columns wins. A period is scored once, when it ends, and that result is final.

How do I join a league?

Leagues are invite only. Your commissioner makes an invite link, and each link admits up to 30 people for seven days. Open it, or paste it on the join page.

How do I sign in?

With Google, or with your email address: we send a code to enter, so there’s no password to remember.
